How to Read the River Modern Balance Unit Chart

Every unit number takes the form #level-stack. In #22-04, the 22 is the storey and the 04 is the stack, so it is the home on the 22nd storey of stack 04. The chart is laid out the same way: stacks run across, levels run up.

Which stacks sit in which tower. Tower 5 carries stacks 01 to 06. Tower 7 carries stacks 07 to 13, which is why Tower 7 has seven homes to a floor and Tower 5 has six. Thirteen stacks in total.

Why the chart starts at level 2. There is no level 1 row, and that is not an omission. The first storey is given over to the arrival level and the facilities deck, and the shops sit at the Lower 1st Storey, so the homes begin at level 2 and run to level 36.

Why there are no breaks in the grid. This is worth saying plainly, because a reader who has looked at other balance charts will be scanning for them. Every one of the thirteen stacks runs the full height, level 2 to level 36, with no stack stopping short, no level given over to facilities partway up, no unit spanning two stacks and no stack changing type at one level only. The grid is complete. Blank cells on this chart mean one thing only, and it is not a printing fault.

One layout appears in two stacks. Type B1, the 2 Bedroom, is the only layout drawn into two separate stacks in two separate towers: stack 05 in Tower 5 and stack 12 in Tower 7. Every other stack carries one layout for its whole height. If you are comparing two Type B1 units, check which tower each sits in, because they are not the same aspect.

River Modern Floor Plan carries the layout in every stack with its drawing, and our Buyer’s Guide sets out the view orientation stack by stack.
